Education and Training
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Spelman College. I then earned my master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami, and then I went on to complete my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at George Mason University.
Throughout my graduate training, my research focused on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and resilience following childhood and adulthood trauma. I also received clinical training in treating anxiety, depression, insomnia, and other trauma-related disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and third-wave behavioral therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I completed my clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, West Los Angeles VA Medical Center (VAMC), where I received intensive training in evidence-based treatments for PTSD such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE), as well as specialization in sleep disorders, including insomnia (CBT for Insomnia; CBT-I) and nightmares (Image Rehearsal Therapy; IRT).
